Paycheck Calculator
Estimate your take-home pay per paycheck after US federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, and state tax. Works for salaried and hourly employees across all 50 states.
How to Use the Paycheck Calculator
Choose whether you are paid an annual salary or an hourly wage. Select your pay frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly) and your filing status. The calculator applies the 2025 federal tax brackets, FICA (Social Security and Medicare), and the state tax rate you enter.
State income tax varies widely — from 0% in Texas, Florida, and Nevada to over 13% in California. Enter your state's effective rate for the most accurate result. If you contribute to a 401(k) or pay for health insurance through your employer, enter those amounts as pre-tax deductions to see their effect.

Notes
- This is an estimate. Your actual withholding depends on your W-4 elections.
- State tax is entered as a single effective rate — it does not model each state's bracket structure.
- Pre-tax deductions reduce federal and state taxable income, but not FICA (except some health plans).
- Local taxes (city or county) are not included — add them manually to the state rate if relevant.
