What Every Invoice Should Include
- Invoice number — unique and sequential
- Invoice date and due date — when issued and when payment is due
- Your business details — name, address, and (where required) tax ID
- Client details — name, address, and (for B2B) tax ID
- Line items — description, quantity, unit price, total per item
- Subtotal, tax, discount, total — clearly broken out
- Payment terms — Net 30, Net 45, or due on receipt
- Payment instructions — bank details, PayPal, Stripe link, etc.
Some jurisdictions (UAE, Saudi Arabia, EU) also require the amount in words and VAT/GST details. Use the Number to Words Converter to generate the amount-in-words line.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this invoice generator free?
Yes — completely free, no signup, no watermark, no limits. Generate as many invoices as you need. There is no paid tier or hidden upgrade. The tool runs entirely in your browser, so your invoice data never leaves your device.
Can I save the invoice as a PDF?
Yes — click "Print / Save PDF" and select "Save as PDF" in the print dialog. On Windows/Mac, the print dialog has a "Save as PDF" or "Microsoft Print to PDF" option. On mobile, use the share menu to save as PDF. The saved file will look exactly like the on-screen preview — no separate download needed.
Is my data private?
Yes — everything runs in your browser. Your invoice data is not sent to any server, not stored, and not shared. When you close the tab, the data is gone. If you need to keep a record, print or save as PDF before closing the tab. There is no account to log into and no data retention on our side.
Does the invoice support multiple currencies?
Yes — choose from USD, EUR, GBP, PKR, SAR, or AED from the currency dropdown. The symbol updates on all amounts in the invoice. For other currencies, you can print and manually add the symbol, or use the nearest option as a placeholder.
What is a good payment term?
Net 30 (payment due in 30 days) is the most common business-to-business term. Net 15 is common for smaller transactions; Net 45 or Net 60 for larger ones. For new clients or small amounts, "Due on receipt" is safer. Longer terms increase collection risk and hurt cash flow — offer them only to trusted, long-standing customers.
Do I need to charge tax on the invoice?
It depends on your jurisdiction and business registration. If you are VAT-registered (UAE, Saudi Arabia, EU, UK), you must charge VAT and show it separately on the invoice. If you are below the VAT registration threshold, or operate in a jurisdiction without VAT (e.g., the US, where state sales tax applies instead), you may not need to charge tax. Enter 0% in the tax field if no tax applies. For international B2B services, VAT is often reverse-charged to the client — check your local rules.
